FIREPLACES BY KRISTA HERMANSON DESIGN

We’ve designed hundreds of fireplaces across Calgary homes. Some were added from scratch. Others got a much-needed rework. All were created to fit their space, their people, and their purpose.

A fireplace should feel like it’s always belonged. In some homes, we introduced one where there was none. Framed it in. Finished it with stone, wood, or plaster. In others, we kept the structure but changed everything else—tiled over old brick, swapped chunky mantels for simple shelves, or ran the surround up to the ceiling for impact.

Each decision is about balance. Scale. Texture. Heat output. Style. We ask how the space is used and design the fireplace to support the function quietly but confidently.

In open-concept spaces, it becomes a backdrop for life. In smaller rooms, it adds a layer of warmth without stealing the spotlight. We’ve worked with gas, electric, and wood-burning models, always mindful of safety and performance.

We think through every line, material, and view. The result? Fireplaces that make sense—both visually and practically.
